Most People Use AI Wrong (Here’s How to Fix It)

GO FORWARD THOUGHT OF THE WEEK ➡️

Most people think using AI means copying and pasting text into ChatGPT, tweaking prompts, and sifting through outputs until you get something that works.

That’s (still) the hard way.

The easy way? Automate all of it.

The other day, I was talking with a content entrepreneur about what most people call “AI productivity.” He showed me how he copies a transcript, pastes it into ChatGPT, and asks it to summarize key takeaways. Not bad, right? But then he was surprised when I told him he was still doing it the hard way.

Sure, it’s better than the old manual workflow of having someone listen to the whole show. But it’s still way more time-consuming than it should be.

He perked up though when I showed him the real shortcut: automating the entire workflow.

Instead of wasting time manually setting up AI prompts, feeding transcripts, reviewing raw outputs, and making selections, imagine this:

  • AI listens to your meetings and automatically extracts key moments.
  • Those moments are instantly turned into LinkedIn posts, blog summaries, or tweets—formatted, structured, and ready to go.
  • You don’t even lift a finger (except to review and approve).

No copying. No pasting. No thinking, “What should I ask ChatGPT next?”

This isn’t the future. It’s what high-level operators are doing right now. The difference between those winning and those drowning in slightly-more-efficient busy work? They’re not just using AI, they’re building systems and workflows tailored to them around it.

You're Wasting 90% of AI's Potential

Because if you’re still manually prompting AI, you’re missing out on 90% of the leverage it can give you. The game isn’t about just using ChatGPT/Claude or whatever AI product du jour —it’s about designing a workflow that eliminates unnecessary steps.

Turn AI Into Your Automatic Workhorse

  1. Look for a task you do every week—content creation, meeting notes, outreach.
  2. Find AI tools to capture and automate. Start with Fathom for transcripts, Zapier/Make for automation, or some LLM (ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini) for content repurposing.
  3. Set up a workflow where your AI assistant doesn’t just respond—it acts without you needing to ask. The real productivity boost isn’t in prompting AI better—it’s in setting it up so you never have to prompt it at all.

Stop working the hard way.

Tool of the Week 🧰

CALL TO CONTENT. Turn your mouth 👄 into money 💰💰💰

If you're like me, you probably spend more time than you’d like to admit on conference calls.

You can’t summarize business success, but you can turn most of your outputs into value if you're smart.

My tool of the week is Call-to-content. I dreamed this up for one of my startup founders. After seeing it help them turn their sales meetings into SOPs, social media content, and an auto-populated content calendar, I thought it would be stupid if I didn’t offer this to everyone else.

So, I struck up a partnership with my favorite AI notetaker, Fathom, and got to building.

Mention my newsletter and get $100 bucks off Call-to-Content.

This is a no-brainer if you want to monetize your meetings and time.

ISSUE #71 Welcome to the Forward Obsessed Founder, my newsletter with insights, awesome tools, and real-world advice to grow your business and career. GO FORWARD THOUGHT OF THE WEEK ➡️ The most successful marketers I know right now aren’t trying to sound like ChatGPT. They’re working overtime to make sure they don’t. They’re what I call Centaur Marketers: part human intuition, part machine precision. They use AI not to replace their voice, but to sharpen it. Not to do the work for them, but...

ISSUE #70 Welcome to the Forward Obsessed Founder, my newsletter with insights, awesome tools, and real-world advice to grow your business and career. GO FORWARD THOUGHT OF THE WEEK ➡️ I used to think AI was all business. Make content faster. Automate my calendar. Scale without hiring. But then something changed. My 3-year-old became obsessed with screens. Trucks, fire engines, tractors, you name it. And like a lot of parents, I was worried. He wasn’t playing. He wasn’t imagining. He was...

GO FORWARD THOUGHT OF THE WEEK ➡️ When I first wrote about vibe coding, some people praised it, others dunked on it. That’s how I knew it was worth paying attention to. Now, with Anthropic teaming up with Rick Rubin on The Way of Code, the vibe coding conversation just leveled up. Remember, this all started as a meme! Rubin with his headphones...
